Reno Tahoe Concrete Founders’ Story
During summer vacation, while he was still in high school, concrete construction found Jose Ramos. A family friend owned a contracting business in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and put him to work that summer. Jose loved the experience.
From there, he picked up the technical aspects of this specialty trade quickly. This earned him rapid advancements at one of our area’s largest construction companies … Q&D Construction.
At Q&D, Jose earned respect within the company. He was rewarded with 4 promotions over his 14 years of hands-on concrete project performance.
In his role as a project superintendent, he was responsible for complete job supervision. From organizing the crews and managing the workflow to stay on schedule. Coordinating with the office support team. Achieving successful poured-in-place concrete projects.
A passion for excellence in his trade led to a desire to embark on building his vision … creating a concrete contracting company. His wife Juany was excitedly on board. She supported this new direction for his career and provided much behind-the-scenes support.
Together they began a two-year process of studying for the contractor examinations. Then there were all the business licensing obligations. Insurance and bonding. And then the planning to meet operational needs. Going from employees to business owners was not an overnight effort.
